OTAGO SCHOOL COMMISSIONERS.

The monthly meeting of the Otago School Commissioners was held on Monday, when there were present : Messrs J. P_MaitJand (in the chair), J. Walker Bain, J. Green, Thomas Denniston, and the Hon. W. H. Reynold. 9 .

The surrender of the lease of section 2 of 23, block IV, North -Harbour and Blueskin was accepted, and it; was decided to reoffer the lease at the upset of 6* per acre, subject to the payment of valuation for improvements.

A letter was received from the Southland County Council stating that they were prepared to issue certificates of title for closed roads through sections 1, 2, and 3, block VI II, Wendonside district. On payment of £15 12s 93. — Mr M'Donald reported on the matter, suggesting that the commissioners approve of the council selling to the respective owners of the sections. — Tbe suggestion was agreed to.

Mr Sinclair Wright, lessee of sections 9, 10, 11, and 12, block 11, Inch Clutha, applied for permission to transfer his lease to James Rutherford. — The transfer was sanctioned, subject to the usual conditions.

The lessee of sretion 2 of 35, block VI, Hillend district, applied to transfer his interest in the section in question to William Willocks, and requested the commissioners to i«sue the lease to the latter. — The application was granted.

An application was rtceived from P. Reihill, lessee of section 28, block XXIV, Aparima Hundred, for a redusti-i" of r r nh on account of three acres seven poles being' taken off his land for a road — It was decided to grant a pro rata reduction ft r the remainder of the lease.

The draft was approved, aud it was decided that the necessary advert isements should be inserted in the local piper?, staking the iutention to introduce the bill duriug the present session. Mr J. L. Macdonald, in hi* monthly report, stated that the Wallace County Council had decided to effect the exchange of roads on sections 21 and 22, Waiau district, in terms of the commissioners' proposal?, and also to cloee the road line through section 13, block 11, Aparima district, if the ratepayers did not obj c\ He forwarded three tenders for th<» purvey of village settlement at Muddy Creek. Of these the tender of Jamr-s Blackie for £50 was accepted, aud is was decided to name tLe village Waiparuo.
