KAITUNA BOWLING CICB.
The' annual meeting of the Kaituna Bowling and Lawn Tennis Club was held in the club's pavilion on the 11th. ■ Mr G. P. Farquhar (president) ocoupied the chair, and there was a very fair attendance.
A report was read from the secretary (Mr H. W. Reid), who stated that, having only been in office since last month aud practically only in possession of the books since the 15th of last month, he was unable to report as he should have wished with regard to the Beveral matches played dating the season. The bowling green was closed for the season on the 2nd inst. Since then the work of lifting and relaying turf, draining and top dressing the lawn had been carried oat, and the green should be in splendid playing condition for an early opening next season. He estimated the number of gentlemen members of the dab at 65, and lady members at 27. The report of the Bowling Committee stated that the dab had played five matches daring the year, winning three and losing two. Considering that the dab had several of their young players engaged in most of these games, the result was very satisfactory and encouraging. The committee thought that these inter-club matches were being a little overdone, and resolved to play no return matches last season, considering that as the club was a new one they ought to give as much time as posssible to the fostering of the game, and to the promotion of social intercourse amongst their own members. The following are the names of the prize winners i— Mr Mark Sinclair's prize, Mr Reid ; president's prize, Mr Dall; Mr Wills' prize for beginners, Mr Reid ; treasurer's bowls handicap, Mr Reid ; subscription rink prizes, Messrs Campbell, Ormsby, Horsburgb, and Reid ; vicepresident's (Mr Butts) prize for tennis, Miss Douglas and Mr Crump. ,
The Chaibman, in moving the adoption of the report, said he was glad to be able to say that the grounds were now Jtally completed, and every requisite for successful working was provided* He believed he was quite justified in saying that now the club had a beautiful, and, in many respects, unequalled ground. No company or private individual* could obtain bo much for the money that had been expended on the grounds, owing to valuable work having been freely bestowed by several members in their enthusiastic desire>to promote the' success of the club.
Mr Obmsby seconded the motion, which was carried.
It was resolved that in future there should only be one vice-president ef the olub.
On the motion of Mr Mitchell it was deoided that the meeting should recommend to the con* sideration of the directors the advisability of issuing life membership tickets at £10 each. The folio* ing office bearers were elected foe the ensuing year :— Chairman and president, Mr W. Wills ; vice-president, Mr Butts ; secretary, Mr H. W. Reid ; treasurer, Mr 8. P. Stevens ; auditor, Mr R. S. Ormsby; directors— Messrs Wills, Butts, Farquhar, G. Fenwick, Danes, Horsburgh, H. Park, Woodhouse, and Dr Jeffcoat. ,
