Of all indoor winter sports (says a recent Pall Mall Gazette), certainly the most popular on all hands is billiards, and at this the scoring has increased to a wonderful extent during the last decade. Breaks that 10 years ago would have been considered marvellous — nay, indeed, quite impossible — are now of daily occurrence, and a thousand "off the balls " is, even for a secondrate professional player, by no means out of the way. The climax was reached recently when Peall scored no less than 3304 in a single break, ending up with ft run of 400 consecutive spot strokes.
