A little further on Orvieto, who had no sooner done pulling than be had done going, collapsed, and with his stable companion Siphonia shooting into second place, she reaohed the earths of Gouverneur 100 yds from the chair, but he thence held her to the end, and won a good race by half a length. Parlington, aud Peacebearer, 28 to 1 Shall we Remember, 1000 to 30 Sheen and Golden Maze, 40 to 1 Silver Spur and Victorious, 50 to 1 Lord Fingll, 66 to 1 Circassian, 200 to 1 Ringmaster, ebrides, St. Germain, and Devotee. The light proved very bad for glasses, and those who saw the race from tbe stand could not distinguish colours until the T. Y.O. win-ning-post was reached. Then Victorious, Mercy, Shall We Remember, and Judith occupied the foremost berthß from Peacebearer, Braokley, Alicanto, Sheea, and Gonsalvo, and at this point the French filly was pulling Luke out of the saddle — in fact, spectators of tbe race grouped below the Bushes had no second opinion as to the result, and were surprised to find a few minutes later that she bad succumbed to the top weight. The Kingaclere pair, Fftllowohat and Royal Star, were never dangerous, and in descending the hill Judith drew to the head of affairs, attended by Alicante and Sbeen, and they at once shook off Viotoricus, Mercy, and Shall We Remember. So far all had seemed plain sailing for the favourite, and it was not until she commenced to climb the hill that Alicante began to tire. But the scale quickly turned in favour of Sheen when the fighting commenced in earnest, and drawing away in the last hundred yards he won by a couple of lengths, while Alicante died out sufficiently to only save second money by half a length. Time, 3mio 54 3-0360. Value of the Btakes, £1030. !
