Stud Book) is a bay horse, with three white legs, was foaled December 14, 1887, and was bred by his present owner ; has fine flat, hard bone, with long silky hair of the best quality, and splendid feet and pasterns, with quality all over such as is rarely to be seen. His sir* is that celebrated stallion Lord Salisbury (114 N.Z. Stud Book), imported from Sootland by J F. Kitohing, Esq., Moa Flat station, at a cost of loOOgs, who has retired from the show ring an unbeaten horse. Salisbury's Pride's dam, Pride's DarJlng (611). imported from Victoria by Mr John Tres trail. Pride's Darling's sire was Cox's. Pride of Scotland (imp.); dam Fanny, by Bothwell (imp.); 2nd dam by George Buchanan. Cox's Pride of Sootland (imp.) as a yearling took ftrafc prize at Johnstons, first at Batrhead, first prize at Hamilton, first prize at Kilbride, and first prize at Ayr. As a two-year-old he gained first prize ao Hamilton, Kilbride, Barrhead, and Maryhill shows. In Viotoria he gained first prize as a two-year-old at Ballarat.'cornpetiug against three-year-olds; a prize of £5 at Sraeaton; and a prize of £5 for best two-year-old at Grand National Show, Sandhurst. Pride's Darling gained first at Dnnedin show in 1883, and first prize at Taieri show in 1886 ; also, first prize at Dunedin show in 1887, and first at Taieri show the same year, Ia 1888 she gained first prize at Taieri, and was afterwards sold to M'Lean Bros., of tlawke's Bay. Salisbury's Pride gained first prize as a yearling at Taieri show, and second at Dunedin ; as a two-year-old, second at Dunedin show. The above pedigree shows Salisbury's Pride to be descended from the purest strains of prize-taking Clydesdale blood, and cannot fail to make a name for himself as a sire. Gleniffer won the Northern District of Fife premium in 1875, third prize at the Highland Society's Show at Glasgow, and second at Aberdeen in 1875 and 1876 respectively. Grand.-dam PaUley Nancy (208, vol ii), by Tom Carstairs (879, vol i) ; Paisley Nancy was very successful in the show ring, gaining fourth prize at the Highland Society's Show at Glasgow iv 1875, when eleven years old, and was about the first at all local shows. G. grand-dam Jess, the noted Dalrioch mare. Pure Blood (1273. vol ii) was got by Lofty (460, vol 1), winner ofthe Dalbeattle premium in 1870 and 1871. He was got by Hercules (378, vol i). by Rob Roy (714, vol i), sire of the renowned Cox's Blackleg, which horse gained several first prizes in Scotland, including first at Highland Society's Show at Edinburgh in 1J59, and also many first prizes in Victoria. Pure Blood's dam Dandy 2nd (173, vol ii) was by Loohfereus Champion (449, vol i), one of the most ouccessful breeders in Sootland ; and his grand-dam, liandy Int. was by Lord Byron (473, vol i). by Prince Royal (647, vol i), winner of third prize at Highland Society's Show at Aberdeen in 1847, and second prize at awe show at Edinburgh in 1848. Pure Diamond's dam Truth (565, vol iii), by Gleniffer (361, vol 1), winner of Fife premium in 1875, third prize at Highland Society's Show at Glasgow, and second at Aberdeen in 1875 and 1876; by Conqueror (196, vol i), winner of flr«t prize and silver medal at Glascow in 1870 and 1871, the Wigton premium in 1872, and Le'mahaj&ow premium in 1873. In the P.ovince of Canterbury Pure Diamond gained second prize at the Northern Agricultural and Pastoral Show in 1885, and first in 1886 ; also first in 1887, and spsolal for the best horse travelling in the district ; also third at Christchurch in 1887, competing against eight Of the best ttalltona in the colony, his yearlings also gained Mites and Co.'s special prize of 10 guineas the same year for the best group of four yearlings got by any draught horse, open to all New Zealand. The above proves Pare Diamond to be a purebred Clydesdale, descended from the best blood in Scotland. Pure Diamond will travel in the Owake, Glenomaru, and South Molyneaux Districts.
