Send order 3 at once to THOMSON BROS., Port Chalmers ; or to DONALD REID & CO., Agents, Dunedin. UNIVERSITY LABORATORY, Dunedin, October 14th, 1890. Messrs Thomson Brothers. Gentlemen,— l havo to report the results of mr analysis of your Fish Manure :— Moisture ... ... 21*6 per cent. Organic matter ... 166 „ Carbonate of lime ... 240 „ Phosphate of lime ... 180 „ Alkaline salts ... 3 0 „ Bartny matter ... 15-0 „ 101 0 „ Including 3£ per cent, of Ammonia and Nitrogen in nitrogenous matter, equal to another 4 per cent. 01 Ammonia, making altogether equal to 7£ per cent, of Ammonia. I consider this a very successfully made and valuable manure. The large proportion of Ammonia is a strong point, and ensures instant good results on the growing plant. The 18 per cent, of phosphate of lime is also a great and permanent benefit to the soil. It is very satisfactory to see such good use made of fish refuse, containing, an it does, a large quantity of phosphates and of Ditref-en. 160 Yours truly, JAMES G. BLACK.
