The coal export from Westport for the week ended Saturday was :— Westport Coal Company, 3289 tons; Waimangaroa Company, 2Bs tons.

The Brittany papers say that a peasant woman of Nozay, a village near N antes, has been safely delivered of five children, who are still alive.

A man named John Breen was charged at Timaru on Thursday with stealing a dozen bottles of spirits, and remanded Breen had to go to the hospital from the effects of enjoying his booty. The Government have reduced the rate of interest on loans to the Oamaru Borough Council from 6 per cent, and 7 per cent, to S per cent., which means a yearly savißg of £188 to the council.
