TO THE EDITOR. Sib,— ln a recent letter in your paper Mr Neil Marquis, V.S., of Timaru, doals with this subject. 1 bavo operated on colta with all the instruments Mr Marquis names and others which he does not mention, and my experience has shown that there is more harm done to colts in the throwing and bod tying than in any other way. There is not one practitioner out of a hundred who can throw or tie a oolt safely and so that it cannot hurt itself. Hundreds of colts ara ruined for life through faulty throwing and bad tying. A. veterinary surgeon Bhould not think hi* duty performed by Btandiugbyand giving instructions; he should do the work himself to ensure its being properly done. This I have made a practice of doing, and with most satisfactory results.
