Negotiations are in progress for a wrestling match in three styles between Duncan C. Ross, the American athlete, and Harry Dunn, the New Zealand champion. The conditions as to the styles were imposed by Robs, and comprise GrsecoRoman, collar-and-elbow, and cateh-as-catch-can, the American refusing to wrestle Border style, ia which he acknowledges Dunn to have no equal in the colonies. The stakes are to be £100 a-side, and reasonable expenses will be allowed Ross to come here.

Mr J. H, Hampton, of the local Customs department, who has made a colonial reputation as a sprint runner, leavea on Monday (saya the Southland News of the Bth) for Sydney to take part in the New South Wales Amateur Championship Athletic meeting. He joins the other New Zealand repreaentativea in the North, and will reach Sydney "about the 20th of this month. Most of the colonies will be represented by' their beat amateurs, and great interest is centred in the meeting, which la regarded as the moat important that has yet been held in this part of the world. Some good records will doubtless be made. Hempton's remarkable time (9 3 5 sec) in the hundred yarda race at the late Dunedin Championship meeting will attach to that event exceptional interest, for all will be anxious to know whether that record will be maintained. It is to be hoped that the management will arrange for taking the time in such a manner as to place it beyond dispute. The friends Mr Hempton haa made during bis short residence here will regret to learn that he doea not return to Invercargill, he having been transferred to Napier,
