Notes from Ophir.
(Fhom Oub Own Cokuespokdknt.)
May 12.— Mr Edward J. T. Ford, of Christchurch, is at present here on a vißit to the Ida Valley Deep Lead Company's ground, and the result, it is rumoured, will be the winding up of the company, which has only taken out 6oz of gold. However, there is a probability of a new company being formed to work the claim. Many of the oldest miners state freely that they have no doubt the gold is there if it can only be dropped upon, and their confidence in the ground still remains unshaken.
