land at Waikouaiti.
TO THE EDITOK. Sib,— At the lash meeting of the Waste Land Board, Mr J. Cunningham applied to have his small grazing run put up for sale at 15s per acre, as ha says he cannot pay the present rental of 2s Id per acre. At the sale of these sections about a year ago, a well-known farmer in this district, who wanted the land for one of his sons, bid 2s per acre, and would have been glad to have got it at that price, and have kept it too, but the extra Id carried the day ; and now, lo and behold ! Mr C. throws the laud up and wants our paternal rulers to put it up for saje at half its value, as many people in this district who are capable of judging kuow that it is first-class pastoral laud and not second-class as represented. There is laud adjoining Mr C.'s sections that was sold a few yeara ago at £2 per acre. Surely our Land Acts require amending bo that such glaring affairs as this case may be things of the past. Hoping you may find space for this letter in the Times and Witness, — I am, &c., Waikouaiti, May 9. One Who Knows.
