Sir, — I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 30th April, reminding me ot the motion carried in the House of Representatives on the 17th July lfißt relative to the introduction of a bill giving power to the people by direct vote at the ballot box, periodically taken, to prohibit the sale of intoxicating liquors within the district in which they reside ; and I beg now to inform you that the Government will introduce such a bill at the approaching session.— I have, &c , H.
