But now they have their " troops of friends," Their interests apart, And seldom can they spare the time To oheer their mother's heart J And you- for you the world had charms My simple self above— Oh, give me baok my pttverty, So I regain ybtir love I I waa not liorn to jiasfl my days Within a gilded cage, • To 101 l upon a silken couch, And listless turn the page ; Or talk to shallow, co-called friends With glib and feigning tongue,— More dear to me those simple joys When we were poor and young!
