WAIKAKA VALLEY.
April 29 —The weather continues fine and the farmers are very busy carting their oats away. There is very heavy traffic to the siding, notwithstanding the f aot that a number are carting into Gore, where they are storing their oats in anticipation of improved prices a few months hence. A large number are selling, however, and no qne ventures the statement that they know that oats will rise. It is a common remark, however, that oats cannot fall any lower, or that if they do they are certain to rise again to the price ruling at present. Householders' Meeting.— Only the members of the retiring committee turned up at the annual meeting last night. liegret was expressed that other householders did not come forward, as it was considered time to have some fresh blood on the committee. The names of the members of the committeeare: — Messrs S. White, W. Johnston, J. Smith, J. M'Phail. A. Ayson, W. Waddell, and D. GUchriafc. The two last-named were re-appointed chairman and secretary respectively.
