THE LONDON WOOL SALES.

(Per Pbess Association.) London, April 22. At the wool sales prices for good crossbred remain firm. All other sorts are flatter. April 24. The wool market is firm. At the sales to-day there was a gcod attendance and animated competition. Owing to fog, the wool sales have been poslDoned. April 25. At the wool salea to-day crossbred and beat greasy merinos were slightly in buyers' favour, and all other sorts were from 1 \<l to 2d below the prices realised at the Febiuaiy sales. April 27. At the wool sales 159,000 bales have been catalogued, of which 140,000 have been sold. April 28. At a sale of foreign wool in Berlin there was a fair demand, and the prices realised were about on a par with tho?e ranging in London. Greasy sorts were, however, neglected. April 29. The wool market is weak. Americans are buying good sorts freely. The present series will probably close on the 10th May. The British and New Zealand Mortgage and Agency Company (Limited) have received the following cablegrams fro •> Messrs Helrauth Schwartze and Co. :— D»'< <l 21st inst. : "Opening rates are barely rcnint&ined. Aa compared with closing rates of last series prices are a £d to Id lower for greasy, and a l£d lower for scoured For crossbred prices are nnehflnged About 100,000 bale 3 have been catalogued up to date, of which about 50 per cent, has been taken for export and 10 per cent, withdrawn " Dated 28th iost. : " Sales continue flat. As compared with closing rates of last series, prices are Id lower for greasy and 2d lower for scoured. About 170,000 bales have been catalogued up

to date, of which about 12 per cent, has been withdrawn and 55 per c ;nt. taken for export." Messrs Dalgety and Company, have received the fo'lowiug cablegram from their head office, dated London, 24th inst.:— "Wool sales : Fair demand for merinos, good and best qualities ; and crossbreds of all sorts. Inferior and faulty merinos show a decline of to since our last telegram." The -New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company have received the following cablegram from their London office, dated 25th inst. : — " Woo) : Since the opening of the sales superior combing, washed, scoured, and medium to good greasy merino have declined \ol per Ib. Other descriptions unchanged. Market slightly weaker. The total quantity catalogued to date 131,000 bales. The total quantify withdrawn to date is 15,000 bales."

Messrs Murray, Roberts, and Co. have received tho following cablegram from their London house (Messrs Sanderson, Murray, and Co ) dated 25th inst. : — "Market weaker. Inferior to medium greasy merino declined 2\ to 5 per cent. Inferior to medium scoured merino declined sto 1\ per cent. There is no demand for washed merino."
