FOOTBALL.
NOTES BY FORWARD.
The annual meeting of the Star Football Club, Invercargill, was held on Friday, 29th ult. The most important offices were filled as follows : -Captain, L. Murphy (re-elected) ; deputy-captain, J. Jenkins ; match committee —L Murphy, W. Brass, and A. Donaldson ; hon, secretary and treasurer, J. Aspray ; delegateß to S.R.F.U., L. Murphy and W. Stead. During the evening J. Aspray was presented with a handsome writing desk and also a silvermounted pipe, as a Blight acknowledgment of his sorvics3 as secretary and treasurer to the Star Cricket and Football Clubs. Judging from the large attendance and enthusiasm displayed, at the meeting, I predict (writes our Invercargill correspondent) a very successful season for the Star. The 1.F.0. hold their meeting on Tuesday, the Pirates following a few days later. The annual general meeting of the Alhambra Club was held at the Sussex Hotel, on Monday, the president (Mr James Allen, M.H.R.) occupying the chair. There were upwards of 60 members present. The following are the office bearers for the ensuing year :— President, Mr J. Allen, M.H.R. (re-eleotod) ; vice-presi-dents—Messrs S. Dymock, A. M'Laughlin, E. Roberts, and R. G. Stone ; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr D. Paterson (re-elected);.dele-gates to O. R, F. U. — Messrs M'Litughlin, M'Oleary,. and R. G. Stone; general committee— Messrs' Baker, M'Laughlin, Noel, Robertson, and Strong, tho president, vice-presidents, and hon. secretary being also ex ojjicio members.
