Dkah Sin,— Seeiu' that ye've sent me a bit o' a sang strikin' me right and left, I wis jist thinkin' I wid send \ c a few lines in return, whilk I hopa that yell no be so thin-skiuned as all au' tak ill oot o' them I hae nae malice towards ouy o' ye ; bit aa ye say yerspl,' I'm gaun tie mak a spoon or spila a horn . Sac hera goes : — All hail tae ye I auld Jock W Phun. Man bit yeVo got a fine auld guv. Whither ye're in earnest or in fuu, 1 caua tell, Bit I ace ye've made a wee blfc sang Aboot masel'. Noo, Jook, I thank ye for ye're sang;
Ye're a wee bit rough but ye're no very lang ; Ye're a wee bit milder in yer slang Than Sandy's letter. But I dinna care a bawbee bap For a' yer havers. Noo, Jock, I see ye've got a brlther ; I wid tak' an' dDok him in the river, For he's no worth a ahot o' poother, As ye mv ii ken, Or ho widna hae written sic a letter Wi' his auld pen. Bit, Jock, what's pit ye in a funk ; Hae ye been foo, or hae been drunk ; Or hae ye bsen lyln' in a ditch, That's raisg& yer birse to sic a pitch. Heich, sir, I think ye are no weel, Jist gang an' tak' a dose o' pells. Noo, Jock, ye're brither is nae better, For he'a got fankit in his tether. Since he cam' ha nae frae Balclutha He's rampin' wild. An' throwin' his venom oot on mo Jiat like a child. Noo Jock, I'll stop thii rhymning matter, For it'll no mak' things nae better, An' this minnit I'll lay doon my pen, An' say quid nicht tae a' yer men. I widna try tfto hurt yer feellns' ; I wid rather live on tattie peelin's. IN CONCLUSION. 2too fair ye weel, Jock, an' fair ye weel, brither, I'll no die'fc agen as lang's I'm a sinner, Next; time ye're gaun tae skelp me jlst gieme a nod, An' ye 11 get the bleasin'a o' Sandt Plod.
