Mining — The celebrated Mystery Fiat lias turned out no good, and Messrs M'Queen and Co. have removed their machinery up to_ Gow's creek, where good gold is reported to be obtainable, the old miners being sanguine of the result. Great regret is felt at the way the much talked of fiat has turned out, and it is a pity that so much time and money should have been wasted over such an unsatisfactory affair.
M.I B.— The bi-weekly meeting of the Mutual Improvement Society was held on the 20th inst. The programme contained a number of musical selections, songs, recitations, and readings ; and a very enjoyable evening was spent, although the bad weather thinned the attendance somewhat.
