IMPORTANT PROPERTY SALE.
Meßsrs Reid, Maclean, and Co. report as followß : — The Central Auction Rooms, High street, were the centre of attraction for a large gathering of Otago— and more especially Taieri— farmers on Tuesday on the occasion of our submitting by auction the wellknown Abbotsford estate, West Taieri, for many years occupied by Mr Jiimes Shand. The property was offered by order of the Registrar of the Supreme Court, and its well-known high-class character, together with the fact that it was virtually put on the market for unreserved sale, drew together a considerable number of buyers. Mr L. Maclean occupied the auction box, and atter briefly dilating upon the merits of the estate, opened the sale at an offer of £24,000 for the block, and after running up quickly, chiefly by £100 bids, it was eventually knooked down at £26,250 to Mr W. L. Simpson, as agent for Mr W. Patrick, of this city. The extent of the property is 1198 acres, and the average price a shade over £21 18s per acre.
