WAREPA.
August 20.—For the past week or two we have been having excellent weather, bo that all farming operations have been carried on, apsce. Ploughing jb well on, and a few of the farmers have started sowing, the ground being ia splendid order; indeed, owing to tha dry winter we have had it has never been thoroughly wet. The partial failure in the turnip crop has made feed a little scarce for the stock. Fabmeks' Club —Another meeting of this club has been held, which was well attended. The question discussed was the small bird pest, and it was- decided that the club should prepare poison to be laid by the farinerß to enable them to lessen the pest. Two seeds (groats and rape sued) are being used as an experiment to see which will have the most effect. Draughts.—This game, which at onetime seemed likely to fall through, has now made a fresh start, and great interest is' being in it, several matches having been played. Amusements.—The anniversay concert of the hall, which was held In Warepa, was a great success both financially and socially, the hall being crowded.
