The Nelson Waste Land Board have granted tb the Westport Coal Company of a portion of the late Wellington Company's lease. The applicants said that a large demand was springing: up in Australia for coke, for which this coal wa*s peculiarly suitable, and they are negotiating for the delivery of 20,000 ton 3 per annum, the purchaser having the option of making it 40,000. Mr Jellicoe, on behalf of Chemis, has laid informations for perjury against Inspector Thomson and Detectives Campbell and Benjamin in connection with the evidence given in the Hawkings murder case.
