BALD HILL FLAT.
May 21.— Wintry weather prevailed on Wednes- j day, Thursday,, and Friday of last week, there being ] heavy snowstorms, The snow did not lie very long, however I ,' and even on the hills around it is rapidly disappearing. During the past few days it has been quite warm again. This will improve the grass on the hills, for ft was needing moisture, and the warm weather of the past few days it causing it to grow better in some places than it did in the summer time. As a consequence sheep will not be taken from the high lands yet awhile, and the rabbits will not be so keen to eat the poisoned grain as they will be in a few weeks' time. Amusbmbnts.— The usual winter amusement, dancing, has not been started yet,' although it is in full swing in several of the townships round about us i The service of song Bva " was given on Friday . evening by a choir of singers from Alexandra. Owing co the bad weather there were only about 30, people present, but they seemed tq enjoy it, sq that the performers left amply repaid for tqeir t>roub)e in coming down.
