HAIRA TE PERA EXECUTED. Napibe, May 13.

Haira Te Pera, executed for the murder oi the Pook family, met his 'fate without emotion. After bis trial at Gisborne, Pera confessed io the murder, but last Friday night he made a statemeat to Captain' Freeoe, K.M., that he and his brother entered Pook's store for robbery, but, being detected, his brother struck Took, and in fact committed all the murders, while he (Haira) looked on in bewildered astonishment. He stated to others that it was arranged amongst his family that he, being guiltless, should be arrested, and would be got off, his brother pay* ing for his lawyer with the proceeds of the robbery.

There being so communication with the steamer in the harbour owing to the storm, the hangman was carried. on to Auckland, and a prisoner setting a short sentence was the exeoutioner,for which service the rest of his sentence will be, remitted.
