TauBSDAY Island, May 10. The following is a summary of the news per British India Company's steamer;-- ' A, destructive fire broke out at lehang Situ, 100 houses being destroyed and 300 families rendered destitute. The barque Transit, in paaaing through CHllaro passage, struck on a rock and became a total wreck. The crew took to the boats and reached Hongkong fiaf ely. A strange unknown disease has appeared at Miora, Japan. The mortality exceeds that of cholera, and is even a more terrible death, which in mosf instances ensues after 24 hours' intense suffering. Out of G6 cases ■of ported, 40 deaths are recorded. The ages re the majority of the persons attacked range from two years to 20 years. The epidemic has been in cix villages. The construction of the railway from Canton to Kow Loon, which is declared to ' jbe the greatest railway s.cheme gppv started, will shortly be proceeded with.
