Deep Sea Fishing in New Zealand.— • A .new departure in connection with the fishing industry has been entered upon by tome Sydney people. They have had. a large ketchrigged vessel fitted up with a tank of 50,000 gallons, capable of carrying 5000 schnapper. It is intended to catch the,fish, with line,and hook, around the coast.of New Zealand, and when a sufficient quantity is caught, to take them over to Ne 1 w South Wales ,alive in the tank. If the lapse of time is too great'to keep the' fish alive,, they will be salted and dried, and only the last caught taken o per alive. The boat is now on the Bast Coast. The first shipment of, fresh salmon from Canada to Liverpool was] made in 1879, The salmon were frozen and packed in ice, and carried across the ocean in huge refrigerators.' ,'
