DUNEDIN PLUMPTON COURSING MEETING.

The May meeting of ' the Dunedih Plnmpton Qoiirsiog Club was held at the Forbury on Thursday, Friday, and' Saturday, of last week. Mr Thos. Kett acted as/judge, and Mr W. Carver as slipper, Messrs GK Dowse and J. Fleming being the slip stewards. Appended are details of the results :-~ ST. LBGEB, of 38 dogs. Scanlan's bd wd Mariner (Horse Marine— Glenshee), and won the stake. The fourth round of' the St. Leger was opened with Black Fine and Penance. The betting was ' 2 to 1 on the former who led up by 12 lengths, and allowed his opponent only one score by the time the hare had escaped. Mariner was backed at ' short odds against Rozelle. The former had slightly the best of the run up, and then a give and take course ensued/ Mariner, however, had the best of' it, and the white flag 'went up in his favour. In the fifth round Black Pine was .favourite against lona at 2 to 1. He led up^'by three lengths and tamed. lona then gob 'in, but Black Pine, though be went rather wide, came to the front again and turned. lona then got in, and worked well, but had not equalised the score by the time the hare escaped. v When Mariner and Black Pine were put in the slips for the final,, odds of 6to 4, were offered on ; the former. Black Pine, however, led up, turned, and had also all the best of the latter, part of the course, the red flag Eventually going up in , his favour. Jfa the opening course of the ' fourth 'round 2 to 1 was offered on Effie Deans against Rotomahana. The former led up by two or three lengths, but Rotomahana then got in and did most of the subsequent work, and the white flag went ' up in his favour. Fugue (2 to 1 on) led up from Briar Root by three lengths, and turned six times in succession, completely beating her opponent all the way. In the fifth round Flora (3 to 2 on) met Rotomahana, and, after leading up and turning, •she tripped over the hare and let the dog in. The verdict, however at the close was in favour of the bitch. Fugue and Flora met in the final round. The betting was 3to2t on Fugue. From. 5 good slip Fugue quickly got in front, and had a good lead by the tjme the game'was reached, She was ni)t
