SAWYER'S BAY.
Apbil 18.— This afternoon, in the Sawyers' Bay Schoolroom, in the presence of, a large gathering of parents, Miss Elizabeth. Morils presented Hiss Hooper with a beautiful gold brooch and gold bracelet and the following address on the occasion of fief leaving the school , of which she has held the potftfon of mistress for the last/ eight .years, to occupy » higher sphere in one of the city «ohoolp s— ".We, A* boys and girls of , this school, have heard with regret that yon are about to leave, and we present you with this token of onr m&tyufo «i)d .affecM^Md. nreßß onr lorrow; that your.,long t connectlon,wlth vs <t Moor-teacher has ndw ceased. , We trust that, you, will treasure this brooch^ and bracelet, not for. their intrinsic value,; but as:. representing our gratitude for the loving care*. which has watched ove^c the Infancy of mosfci-of .us, .and' which , has 40 -often smoothed- for us, ' learning^ rugged,, road.' , ,That yon miy be spared to enjoy, the blessings with -which;, we pray God to -dower- you; and that your future^ life may be as unclouded and happy as your gentle forbearance has made our school days is the earnest mayer of. all your scholars."— Mr Foster (head teacher V in replying.. for Miss Hooper, said he «a» - pleased to see i ; so many ladies present to, witness ithe presentation to Miss Hooper., He knew something of what Miss Hooper felt at severing her connection; with the school, where she,had > 10 long and so successfully carried out her duties., Wefeft sure .she wa§ carrying away,, with her, the good wiihei.of.the, people of the district, and this vf&i only one of many kindnesses they both had, ,ex- . nerienced while they had been amongst them. He wished to tell them that he had nothing to do in Siting up the little' address.'. He thanked those, lies 1 who had ,so Jrindly selected >tbe, .beautiful brooch and bracelet. He then called for three cheers for Miss Hooper, to which the, chidren heartily re-iponded.-r-A ,very feeling good-bye-taking then followed the interesting little ceremony.
