Ihe railway revenne, that is to say the gross receipts, for the 11 months of the financial year ]ust expired, amounts to £908,699, and the expesilooe i. was £591 > 24 ?. as against £911,074 and 4.633,449 respectively for the corresponding period of the previous year. There is therefore a decrease to the amount of £2000 in the receipts and of about £42,000 in the expenditure, thus leaving the net revenue better by £40,000 than last year. The working expenses absorbed only 65 per cent, of the revenue as against 69i >er cent, last year. It is roughly computed that the net railway revenue received during the financial year, which expired on Sunday last, 8 aPProrinaately to £360,000.. This is *lU,UUU above the Treasurer's estimate, a shortcoming of some £40,000 in the gross receipts 5S?£ « more thaH balanced by a saving of about t.50,000 in the expenditure.
