Reefton Mining Notes. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Reefton, February 3.

The following are the battery returns for the past week:—Keep-it-Dark,4lßoz amalgam from 165 tons; Globe, 4370z amalgam from 166 tons; Welcome, 300oz amalgam from 30 tons". Reefton, February 5. Keeprit-Dark.—The largeness of the battery returns on Saturday last led to the iropressi&n that the general cleaning up had taken plade, but this was'hot so. The returns were from the plates only, the boxes not having been touched the intention being to keep the battery going to the end of February. This course has been decided upon owing to the many delays during the month of January on account of the filling in operations and want of water. I have beeu asked by the directors to make this explanation, and its correctness may therefore be relied upon. The slackness in mining affairs is still unrelieved, and business continues at a standstill.
