Wakatipu Mining Notes.

(F&om Ova Own Correspondent.) Arrow, February 4. Gradually mining is weiring round to its ordinary routine, and work is getting back again into its accustomed grooves. UPPER SHOTOVER. The Gallant Tip, for the fortnight ending 26th ult., took 940z of amalgam off the plates—a very good return, showing that the stone fully maintains its goM-bearing quality, while in quantity it is just as available as ever. The Maori Point (Melbourne) Company have brought their splendid head of water to bear upon their new venture, and as the ground has been proved to contain gold in paying quantities by previous trials, they are likely to be rewarded for their enterprise. MACETOWN. The Sunrise Company in washing up their blanketings only obtained 560z of amalgam, when no more than 33 tons of stone had been put through. This return exceeds the expectations of the most sanguine shareholder, and ecrip has been withdrawn from the market altogether. Afc present this mine and the Premier are the only ones which keep on raising stone on this once lively field. The valuable plant of the Phoenix Extended, Skippers, was put up afc auction in Queenstown last week, but the highest bid being only £150 ib was not sold. The- extensive piping, nearly one mile in length, was purchased by a St. Bathans sluicing party privately.
