Tho above Company, ia being formed to acquire and w ork on a large scale about 250 acres of valuable auriferous Freehold Land, and about 50 acres held under licensed holding* (comprising in all about 300 acres), which land is situated on the borders of Lake Wakatipu, and about live miles from Queenstown'. There are about 820 acres of freehold land, all of which, if necessary, will be conveyed to the Company, but of this there aro only about 250 acres auriferous. The ground abovementioned has for a great many years been known to be auriferous, and lately several applications have beau made to purchase or resume possession of portions of this freehold for the purpose of mining, and miouto portions of these properties adjoining the creeks have, ab different periods (hiring the last 20 years, been worked by minerß to great advantage. The terraces, as well as the lower ground, are auriferoiiß, and exceptionally well situated fur sluicing facilities, 'I he p>incii>al water rights, which have been secured, are permanent and large, and are considered the most \aluable water rights in the Lake Wakatipu district, and comprise about 25 heads of water, which are capable of affording a pressure of 100 ft, and which will command the whole of the auriferous terraces proposed to be " acquired and worked by tho Company. Tne proprietors of the 'properties have agreed to accept £4000 as the price thereof, in addition to the shares already mentioned. With this sum they had to buy the several claims and valuable water rights mentioned by Mr Benl in his report. The estimated cost of construction of water races, dams, reservoir, sluicing plant, &c. will be £3000. The properties have been very caretully and exhaustively prospected and reported upon by L, O. Beal, jun., ISaq., of Dunedin, mining engineer and expert, whose report is appended hereto, aud which concludes as follow s : — -•• I would say, after carefully examining and testing the ground, that the property is a very excellent one, offering speoial facilities as a sluicing claim, and should, it worked in a thorough find (tystematic manner, yield a good and safe return on capital, and should last for 15 or 20 years at least with a large plaut." " To Bhow the extremely rich character of the ground proposed to be worked, it need only be said thai-, even assuming the w«sh to average only sgr of gold to the ton of Btuff sluiced, wnich in an extremely low average, the i^eld from 20,C00 tons (whioh could easily bo put through per mouth) would give the Company the very handsome return of £9360 per annum." The Company will pay all the preliminary expenses incidental to the floating of the Company, including brokerage, commission, printing, advertising, and all other costs in connection with the Company, but thtse are not expected to be heavy. It is anticipated that it will not be necessary to call up more than 3s per share Applications, accompanied by a deposit of Is per share, may be forwarded to any of the Brokers of the Company, or to the Bank of New Zealand at any of its branches. Iv ease* where no allotment is made, the deposit will be returned in full ; and when a less number of Bharea is allotted than shall have been applied for, the balance of the deposit shall be applied towards the further payment accruing on the shares which may be allotted. So satisfied are the vendors of the success of this undertaking that they are prepared to take up a large number of contributing shares on their own account ; th« public, however, will have preference. As a largo number of shares have already been subscribed for, immediate application is necessary. No application for leaj than 20 shares will be received by any of tho Brokers. Prospectuses and forms of application for shares may be obtained at the Bank of New Zealand and offices of the Brokers of the Company.
