WHEEL NOTES BY DEMON.

Some Dunedin Cycling Club men were away for a spin on Saturday. The new reardriver was being tested on the South road, and as a result of the satisfactory conclusion it is probable that more of the club members will go in for " Rovers.'' Football is losing hold of its votaries now, and by the end of the month cycling will again reign supreme for the summer. The Pioneer Bicycle Club held their tenth annual meeting on August 30. There was a good attendance of members. The report and balance sheet brought up showed that the club has a cash balance of £120 9s sd, and with assets, of £187 12s lid ; a very satisfactory state of things. The election of officers for the ensuing season resulted as follows : — Patron, His Excellency the Governor; president, Hon. E. C. J. Stevens; vice-president, ; captain, H. J*. Jenkins ; sub-captain, J. Alexander; hon. secretary, W. Bowles; hon. treasurer, A. C Pattrick; committee — W. H. Langdown, F. Cooper, P. G. Withers, C. Recce, C. Myhre, J. H. Parker, C. S Gill. A presentation of a gold watch was made to Mr Lowry on the occasion of his retirement from the active office of captain of the club. The Chris fcchurch Bicycle Club held their annual meeting on Tuesday, 4th instant. The election of officers tor the coming season resulted as follows: — Patror, Mr G. Gould; presir dent, Mr M. Sandstun ; vice-presidents, Messrs A. E. G. Rhodes. R. C. Bishop, and J. T. Matson; captain, W. Oates; sub-captains, S. Billcliffe, T. Hayward ; committee — Messrs Pozzi, Topliss, A. Andrew?, Nankivell ; buglers— -T. F. Richards?, S. Smith, G. Thompson, and V. Pozzi; auditors, J. Oates and F. J. Rowley; hon. treasurer, C. B. Russell; hou. secretary, H. Rowley.

The Christchurch season opens on Saturday, 15th September, when the combined clubs will run to New Brighton.
