NOTES FROM REEFTON (From Our Own Correspondent.)
JHeefton, August 18. . The following are the battery returns for the past week -.—Welcome, 2700z amalgam from 35 tons; Keep-it-Dark, 2400z amalgam from 120 tons ; Progress, 51oz amalgam from 90 tons ; Globe, 160oz amalgam from 190 tons; Nil Desperandum, 1530z, amalgam for the week. The mining history of the week is devoid of interest, and a quieter time has not been experienced for months past, the field being apparently in one of those calms which are the usual presage of a season, of activity. The Keep-it-Dark still keeps up its excellent returns, and promises to have an enduring time of it.,, The Globe so far has disappointed expectation to some extent, but those who are in the " know " say that everything will come out right presently. The Progress continues about its average returns, rather under the mark if anything, bub the, price of the shares still keeps up, and all the holders appear to be thoroughly satisfied with the future prospects of the company.
