COST OF TRANSMISSION OF POWER.
For .transmitting power to great distances, electricity has been found to be more economical than either hydraulic, pneumatic, or wire-rope transmission, Eor a distance of 22,000yd5, or about 12^ miles; the' cost per horse-power for an installation for 100 horsepower is in England £87 for electric, £162 for wire rope, £192 for pneumatic, and £$10 for hydraulic power ; whilst the cost per horse-power transmitted per hour is respectively 4-08, 973, 4-50, and 6-84 pence. 1 (Continued -on page 37.) •
