The Mklbouhxk Centennial Chess Congress. An important meeting of chess players to decide the championship of Australasia takes place in October next, ftepresenfcativcs trom alt the colonies will take part in the contest, and the e/ent is being eagerly looked forward to hy chess players generally. New Zealand will be represented by Mr C. H. Brockelbank. of Auckland who is the leadiDg player of that province ; and Mr D.ivid K. Hay, of Dunedin, will be the other representative. The member;) of the Olago Chess Club have had a friendly tournament simorg themselves, and Mr John Mouat has recured firsf place with a score of 11 wins, 2 losses, and 3 draws.
