Draughts News.
We]'acknowledge with thanks the receipt of La Gazette Dv .Tea De Dames, published at Rue dcs Vergeaux, Amiems. Hitherto this interesting magazine, which is published in the French language, has been solely devoted to the Polish or French game, of draughts, but we are glad to see that the English game is now receiving attention, under the able editorship of the veteran Mr John Hedley, ex-editor of tbe Leeds Weekly Mercury Supplement. We wish it every success in the new line it has struck out, and before many years elapse we may hear of an international match at draughts between Francs and Britain.
Mr Wyllie, writing from Akaroa on the 27th of July, says that his New Zealand score is now 4847 games. Of these he has won 4037, lost 7, drawn 203. Mr J. Edwards, of Waiwera, has presented the local club with a handsome board and sot of men for competition among the members. If those who are well off only knew how much pleasure they could spread all around them by sucli thoughtful kindness we would have the pleasing duty of chronicling more such presentations.
