SEASONABLE NOTES.
Sweep up fallen leaves, aud keep the garden I with scrupulous care during the dull weather. J Prepare for next year's crops by trenching, ' manuring, and collecting rubbish to burn. Have I protecting material ready for lettuces, endives, celery, and cauliflower. Protect artichokes. Clear out and manure asparagus beds if not done last month. On dry, warm soil sow beans ■ for first crop, and French beans in pots or boxes for forcing. Cover cauliflowers with a leaf, to protect from frost. Where the soil is welldrained, light, and dry, sow ringleader, or American wonder pea. Plant garlic and potato onions. ' Take up and store horse-radish, and make new ; plantations. Ashleaf and early border potatoes may be planted on dry, saudy soils. Propare aeakale and rhubarb for forcing. Plant raeunculus roots ou Jdry borders. Complete the planting of tulips and other bulbs. Bring forward a few cinerarias and primulas on shelves close to glass. Sow cyclamen if neglected last month. Prepare material for protecting tender plants.
