THE LONDON PRODUCE MARKET.
(From Our London Correspondent.) London, April 6. The second aeries of London sales ot colonial wool commenced yesterday, when 9495 bales out of an available total of 340,000 were offered . Of this quantity 2773 bales consisted of New Zealand wool, 3044 bales from Sydney, and 1766 from Port Phillip. The selection of Australian wool was hardly representative, a large proportion being crossbred. There was a good attendance of Home and foreign buyers and fair animatiou in the biddings. Prices for Australasian merinos and Cape may be quoted without material alteration as compared with February and closing rates, but crossbreds sold slightly in buyers' favour. The series will lust Mil May 1.5. The estimated arrivals for the five series amount to 1,470,0U0 bales, or 120,000 bales over 1887. The cold N E. w.nds now prevailing, with frequent snow showers, are keeping vegetation back, and farmers are very backward wuh their spring s 'Wing The average price of English wheat is ;*os 31 ' per Imperial quarter, or 3d lower than tor the previous three weeks. Foreign wheat in again 3d to 6d per quarter cheaper. Australian on the spot is nominally unchanged at 34s i>d ro 3Ss per 4981b, ex store. New Zealand on the spot is little inquired for, and quotations are — Fair to good Tuscan. 32s to 3Js, and short berry 3ls to 32s per 4901b, ex store. Flour in large supply, and rather lower to se'l SuperfiueJAustralian nominal at 25s to 263 per 2Bolb, ex store. Fine heavy !Vew Zealand opts. 23s to 25s per 3S4lb, ex store. Besns dull, New Zealands at 32s to 33s per 5041b, ex store. The Wairoa, from Lyttelton, has brought 3175 bags of wheat. The frozen meat trade exhibits no animation, but prices have not declined, since supplies have not been pressed. The present prices are—North Canterbury, 2s 8d to 3s per stone ; other districts of New Zealand, 2b 8d to 2s 9d ; Sydney, 2s 6d ; Eiver Plate, 2s 2d to 2s 4d ; New Zealand lamb, 3s to 4s 4d,
