A FASHIONABLE WEDDING,
(Fhom Oub Own Correspondent.) Wellington. May 21. The following account of the wedding of one of your Otago members, which took place in Wellington to-day, is given by a local paper :•— "A well-known member of the House of Representatives look unto 'himself matrimonial responsibilities at St. Andrew's Church this afternoon, and the ceremony attracted so very large an attendance of interested spectators that the building was well nigh filled. The bridegroom was Mr H. S. Valentine, representative of the WaiVnia constituency; and the bride was Miss Wilholrjiiim Margrat Linck, daughter of the late Captain Linck, oE the German Imperial y?cht, -vho arrived from England by the Tongariro on Saturday morning. The bride wore a costume ef rich cream satin, trimmed with grey tulle, embroidered with gold and silver, and having a long train. The bridal veil was of tulle with a spray of orange blossoms, and fastened with a diamond rose, and the bride's jewellery consisted of a diamond and ruby necklet, with other ornaments. The bridesmaid, Miss Reid, of North Taieri (sister-in-law of the Hon. T. Fergus), was attired in pale blue fancy liberto silk, with cream ribbons and pale blue bonnet to match, and also wore a diamond and pearl brooch, the gift of the bridegroom. Mr Loughrey, representative of, the Lmwaod electorate, acted as groomsman. The bride was given away by Sir " M. ' O'Rorke, Sneaker of the House of , Representative!,
Amongst the guests were Mrs Fergus, wife of the Hon. T. Fergus, who wore an elegant dress' of crimson silk, with dark bonnet en suite, and. Mrs Fisher, wife of the Hon. Mr Fisher, who was dressed in black striped merveilleux, with Jong train and bonnet to match. There were also present Sir Harry Atkinson, a large number of members of the House of Representatives, and a'l the members of the Ministry. The bride and bridesmaid carried splendid bouquets, provided by Mr M'Nab, of Lower Hutt, which were inserted in holders of the finest silver, the gift of the bridegroom, and on which their names were engraved. The marriage ceremony was conducted by the Rev. C. J. Ogg, pastor of St. Andrew's Church, and at its conclusion the bridal party was driven to the residence of the Hon. T. Fergus, where the wedding breakfast was provided. Mendelssohn's "Wedding march" was played by Mr C. H. Pilrard on the party leaving the church. The happy party left for Masterton by this afternoon's train, en route for Napier. There they will join the s.s. Mararoa at the end of the week, and proceed to Waiwera, where their honeymoon will be spent."
