Arrandale cat out the work from Bulgaria and Crowberry, with Caerlaverock in waiting on the inside, and Mother-of-Pearl bringing up the rear. In this order they travelled to the bend, where Bulgaria and Arrandale in turn dropped back, leaving Crowberry in advance of Caer* laverock. Although the latter drew slightly

ahead of the favourite at the distance he was unable to sustain the effort^ and resigned opposite the stand to Crowberry, who won easily by half a length; three lengths between second and third. The flag fell to a second attempt, and Oliver Twist jumped off in front of King Monmouth, Givendale, and Prince Rndolph, with Sorrento last. These positions soon underwent a change, and in the first quarter of a mile Prince Rudolph and Givendale went on second and third from Agitator, with King Monmouth drawn back into , the rear. At the mile post Agitator had become the immediate attendant of Oliver Twist, and a little further on he rushed to the front and held a big command along the Woodside from Oliver Twist, Prince Rudolph, and Silence, with Sorrento next. As they entered the straight Oliver Twist resigned to Silence, who had got within a length of Agitator half-a-mile from home, at which point Prince Rudolph was well beaten. Before making the bend Silence caught Agitator, and then going on, with Oliver Twist in vain pursuit, he won easily by five lengths ; a bad third. Time, 2min 40 l-ssec. HER MAJESTY'S PLATE. Of 300g8; weight for age. Two miles. Duke of Deaufort's eh i' Reve dOr, by HamptonQueen of the Roses, 3yrs,7st 131b ... (0 Wood) 1 Mr T L Wardle's b m Merry Duchess, syrs, 9st2lb (J Watts) 2 Betting : 6to 4 on Reve dOr, who had no sooner been led out of the paddock than she buck- jumped in so successful a manner as to put Wood out of the saddle. Having broken her bridle, she was then led to the Dringhouse stable for repairs, and in the meanwhile Merry Duchess waited for her at the post. Reve dOr cut out the work at a steady pace, and held a lead of five or six lengths until half-a-mile from home, when Merry Duchess began to reduce the gap ; but all the steam was out of her below the distance, and the three-year-old won easily by a length. THK GIMCKAOK STAKES, Of ssovs each, with 300 added, for two-year-olds ; coltß Bst 121b, fillies Bst 9lb ; penalties and allowances. Three-quarters of a mile. With Misere jumping round the wrong way when the flag fell she lost a lot of ground, and Derwentwater, who got off in front, at once held a clear lead of Gautby, the Charade colt, and Greg. As, they approached tho bend, Gautby took close' order with Derwentwater, but was shaken off inside the distance and beaten by a length ; a bad third. THE GREAT YORKSHIRE STAKES, Of 15sovs each, 10 forfeit, with 500 added, for three-year-olds ; colts Bst 101b, fillies Bst 51b ; penalties and allowances. One mile and three-quarters. The flag fell without a failure, and Royal Charter made ruuning from Cactus and Hero, with Panzerschiff next and Gallinule last. In the first quarter of a mile Royal Charter increased his lead to half a dozen lengths, with Hero at the quarters of Cactus, the pair being m turn clear of Panzerschiff and King Milan. The latter was passed by Gallinule at the milepost, and soon after Lord Ailesbury's colt threaded his way into third place, Cactus having dropped back to the company of Panzerschiff, leaving Hero in attendance upon Royal Charter. The pioneer, who once held a very strong command, began to come back to Hero and Gallinule at the bottom turn, and when the last named carried his colours to the fore halfway up the straight Royal Charter and Hero resigned to Panzerschiff, with Cactus struggling into third place, and from the bend Gallinule was in difficulties, and though he struggled well to the end Panzerschiff always had the best of him, and won very cleverely indeed by threeparts of a length; a bad third. Time, 3nain 15sec. THIS HAREWOOD PLATE, Handicap of 30usovs. Five furlongs 44yd3. Lord Ailesbnry'a b g Everitt, by Pellegrino— Celosia, .Jyrs, Bst 51b ... ... Whittington on the inside led the way from Agnostic, Wishing Well, and Sub Rosa, and these formed the front rank to the bend, where Wishing Well and Sub Rosa were beaten. A slight lead was then held by Agnostic to the distance, when she resigned to Whittington, with Everitt pulling double on the stand side. Although the latter gradually caught Whittington, Martin did not move upon him in the least degree, and when he passed the post he had done no more than make a dead heat. Agnostic was a bad third, Hazelwood fourth, Grecian Bend fifth, and Wishing Well last. Deciding heat: 6 to 1 on Everitt, who led throughout, and won easily by three-quarters of a length,
