The flag fell at the first attempt to an excel-, lent start, in which Eglamore out out the work from Lovegold for a quarter of a mile, when the latter lost; his place, and Eiridspord' went> on. second from Florentine and Enterprise. The^e were then just clear of Grandison, Lovegold, and Hugo, with Phil bringing up the rear. The pace was only moderate, and before the completion of the first half of the journey Eiridspord drew up to the neck of Eglamore, the pair' being then pursued by Florentine' and Enterprise to the Bushes where they got rid pf Grandison. In descending the hill Hugo and Florentine hung out signals of distress, and When Eiridspord had shot his bolt in the Abingdon Mile Bottom, Enterprise pulled his way- nearly level 'with Eglamore. At the same time Phil, who nad changed sides, worked into third place, and' no sooner had Enterprise drawn slightly ahead of Eglamore than the Stanton colt made his effort. The three then finished the race in the closest of company, and although Enterprise held the •middle berth he had plenty of room, and going smoothly in Cannon's hands to the end, he won in capital style by half a length from Phil, who in the last few strides beat Eglamore by the same for second money. At an interval of six lengths Eiridspord was fourth, and a couple of lengths behind him came Grandison, Florentine, and Hugo, who were not separated by ' more than heads or necks, with Lovegold a long way last. Time, lmin 45 3-ssec. Value of the stakes, £3550. •THE ONE THOUSAND GUINEA STAKES, A subscribtion of lOObovb each, h ft, for three-year-old fillies ; Bst 121b each ; the second to receive ■ 200sovs out of the stake. R.M. The flag fell to an admirable start at the first attempt. St. Mary was the first away, followed by Reve dOr, with Porcelain on the Jower ground at their heels. Then in the centre came Freedom, Gale, Agave, and Agnostic, with I Flower Girl last. Entering the rails,' lgnostio drew to the front, followed by Porcelain, Reve dOr, and Freedom, with Cordelia treading at their heels. Reaching the Buiihes, Porcelain, Cordelia, and Reve dOr almost in a line held a slight advantage of Freedom, with Tactic and Lady Dalmeny the last pair. Coming down the | Abingdon Mile Hill, Reve dOr, took premier I position, attended by Freedom and Porcelain, the trio holding a clear lead of St. Mary, Descending the hill, Reve dOr held a, slight lead of Porcelain, with Freedom at their quarters. From this point a geod race home ensued between the three, Reve dOr getting the .best of the straggle to the finish, won rather cleverly by half a length, the same distance separating second and third, St. Mary was fourth, Agave fifth, Flower Girl sixth, Agnostic seventh.
