THE HOME PRODUCE MARKET.

The current series of wool sales closed on Wednesday for the Easter holidays, and will be resumed on the 13th inst. The tone of the sales is satisfactory, though a slight downward tendency has been manifested in certain kinds of wool. The entries for the series closed on April 1 with an available total of 277,471 bales, made up as follows:— New Zealand; 48,695; New South Wales, 58,142; Queensland, 17,324; Victoria, 72,041 ; South Australia, 32,201 ; Western Australia, 8111 ; Tasmania, 2727 ; Gape of Good Hope, 38,230.

The frozen meat market is dull, inquiries being very limited. The Doric, from Lyttelton, with 21,847 sheep, has cleared at 4,d to sd. The Tongariro, from Port Chalmers with 13,311 sheep, 44 lambs, and' 7B pieces of beef, has cleared at 4d to 4sd for the sheep, fid to 6d for

the lambs, and 4d"W4id for the beef: -The?lonic, from Auckland with 14,095 sheep, 10,378 lambs, and 117 pieces pf.beef,, has cleared the sheep at 3|d to sd, has 501d,6000 lambs at 3£d,tb 7d,and cleared the beef at 3d to 4£d.i The Aorangi, from Lyttelton-with-12,378 sheep, 2117 lambs, and 208 pieces beef, has cleared the sheep at 4£d to sd, has Bqldl3oo.lambs.at 4Jd to 7d, and all the beef;at 3|d to 4|d. The Rimutaka, from Lyttelton with 11,365 sheep, 5786; lambs, and 419 pieces, of beef, has sold 4500 sheep at 4d to sd, 1300 lambs at 4£d |to 7d, and 50 pieces of beef at 4id to sd. The Coptic, from Wellington with 25J493 sheep and 10,070 lambs, has (sold, 2500 sheep at 4d to sd, and 500 lambs at 5d to 7d. ' ■ v
