G. AND T. YOUNG'S NEW PREMISES.

Messrs G. and T. Young, watchmakers and jewellers, have recently removed to uew premises two doors below their old shop in Princes street. The premises were lately occupied by Matheson Bros., but extensive alterations have been made to the building, which give it a very different appearance from that which it formerly wore. The floor has been lowered to the level of the footpath, and in place of the two mode-rately-sized show windows which used to be on each side of the doorway in Princes street, there is one large window about 13ft in length on one side, and a small window on the other. In the small window there is a large clock with hands which indicate the seconds, minutes, and hours of the day, the clay of the month, age of the moon, and the temperature. There is also an aneroid barometer fixed below. In the inside of tbe shop great changes are observable. It has been entirely renovated and fitted up somewhat after tbe style of jewellers* shops in the old country. The ceiling has been made to look very attractive, and there are a number of handsome show cases in different parbs of the shop. On the left-hand side there are tbree of these show cases. Two of them are 10ft long and Bft Gin high, made of Spanish mahogany, having mirror backs and circular plate glass ends. On the same side as the above there is a similar case of smaller dimensions, and between the cases there are two mirrors 2ft 6in in, width. On the right-haud side of the shop there are two cases similar to the previous ones, with cupboards underneath them and a mirrow between. There is also a clock case 9ft long and 10ft high at the end of the shop. There are likewise show cases on top of the counter, mado of solid ebony, and having plate glass sides ; .also, a show case with four glass sides in the centre of the floor. These cases all allow of the goods being sfien to the best advantage, and give the shop a very brilliant appearance, especially v,hen illuminated At tbe back part of the building tho workshop and the offices are bituated, and beneath these is a spacious cellar.
