The following notice of the pioture appeared In • noent issue of the Otago Daily Times:— "One of the most appropriate pioture* that could be designed to commemorate the jubilee year of the reign is to be seen in the window of Metsra C. Begg and Co.'b premises, Princes street. It is a large medallion portrait of her Majesty, perfect as regards resemblance, and characterised by a finish aud smoothnets of tone that render it one of the beat specimens of coloured lithography we have seen here. The portrait occupies the centre of the canvas, but the design also includes a quartett of smaller pictures, one in each comer, representative of the four most momentous events of the reign. The views in the two uppor corners depiot her Majesty's coronation at Westminster on 28th June 1838 and her marriage on 10th February 1840. Below is a view of the mausoleum at Frogmore containing the remains of Friuce Albert and bearing the date of his death, 14th December 1861; and to the right of this is the fourth picture of the series, showing the reading of the proclamation declaring her Majesty Empress ot India on 7th January 1877. This ceremony, t will be seen, was performed in the presence of Lord Lyttoa, the then viceroy, with far more pomp than marked tbe very formal proceedingo on the steps of the Boyal Exchange, London. Deaides these historical pictures, there are in the margin the arms of the three kingdoms and the emblematical rose, shamrock, and thistle, and the whole is surrounded by a very pretty border, quiet and tasteful in design and colour like the rest of the work. The central portrait (■executed on a chocolate ground, which shows up the brighter colours very effectively. The Queou .» In state drdss — or rather the.semi-state costume in which she has been accustomed to appear on important public occasions since her widowhood, tihe weara a veil and diadem and the blue ribbon and Order of the Garter. The picture cannot fail to Attract attention, both on account ot its subject arid the excellent work of the artist and lithographer." fIT Orders now being received by W. J. PBIGTOB..
