OTEMATA RACES AND SPORTS.

These sports came off on Christmas Day under very favourable auspices. The day being fine had the desired effect in drawing a large assemblage of spectators ,v .together to witness the sports, as well as the match between Bosco (of Otematata Cup fame) and Shadow for £50 ; distance add weights the same as in the above I Cup. The latter had to' succumb to the gelding after a good race. • A Hack Handicap was got up, and Tristan appropriated the stakes easily from fonr others. The best of order prevailed, and no accident of any kind occurred to mar the pleasure of the day. The results are as follow,:— Match fob £50.— Nine stone up. One mile and ahalf.
