Great bush fires are now raging iv the neighbourhoods of Deniliquin, Portland, Tatura, and Condah.
Messrs Goldsbrough and Co. held their usual weekly sale this afternoon, when 3GOO bales were offered, the sales for the week being 3000 bales. Greasy wool sold up to 10d: scoured, I7jd; washed, lid. There was a strong demand aud excellent , competition, especially for light crossbred:*. Good merinos, shifty scoured pieces, have advanced from £d to Id since last telegram.
Four more deaths occurred at the quarantine station this afternoon. Several other pnttenta arc in a critical condition.
Tho Government h:ive declined to siop immigration on the ground that doing so would interfere with the prosecution of public wurks which would thus increase the uumber of unemployed in the colony.
