INTERCOLONIAL MARKETS. VICTORIA.

Messrs Goldsbrough and Co. report under date December 15 of the Melbourne grain market as follows : —

The late unseasonable weather has retarded bar* vest operations, and in consequence no r.ow wheat has found its way to market ; therefore miller* holding very limited supplies have been compelled to give enhanced prices for the balance of the old wheat still on hand What is now required to assure a good 01 op ib fine, dry weather ; and, if favoured with such, we may look for consignments within the next 10 days, though no large quantities are likely to be available before January. It is, however, early to form an estimate of oiir yield, the prospects varying so greatly in many districts ; but, after making allowance for weather losses and other contingencies, we look for an expoi table surplus of 150,000 tons at least, the return in many districts being expected to double that ot last stason. Oar stocks of old wheat being now almost exhausted we will have no surplus to carry over to next season, and within the last few days millers have bten compelled to make purchasesof flour to meet their requirements. Wheat is temporal, ruling at from Si to 5s 2d, but this quotation is only nomiial. As soon a* the new crop comes to hand a sharp fall may be looked for. Oats. — Owing to the tavourable season and large consignments from New Zealand, prices have receded tfd per bushel during the month, and we now qw te from 2s 7d to 2s lOd for inferior to good stout feed.
