SCHOOL VACATIONS.

PINE HILL.

The annual examination of Pine Hill School took place on Friday in. presence of a large number of parents and friends. The schoolroom was beautifully decorated with the ferns and shrubs which grow in luxuriance in this district. The portions containing birds' nests with eggs attracted special notice. After a short examination, prizes were distributed by Mr G. Ford, chairman of the school committee, a follow :■—

Standard V— Jameß Thomson Ist in arithmetic spelling and singing ; Ethel Richards for correctness and neataces of wurk and arithmetic prizd ga ued at the examination.

Standard IV — Os Bunting, marks during the year ; Jam- s Murphy, arithmetic ; MaryJ Sinoiair, good conduct ; Isa Wright, singing ; Sarah Sinclair, passing standard. Staudtid lll— William Thomson and John Urquh<trb, passing standard. Standard ll— Emma Godfrey, writing; Joseph Godfrey, spelling ; Archibald Galbrejth and George Bunting, passing standatd. Standard I— Thomas Murphy 1 ; Mary Godwin, 2. Lower Division : William Duncan, 1. Wi.li<im M'Ara, Albert;Kich»rds, and Charles Galbreath, arithmetic ; Arch t>tew<irr>, recitation. Sewing— Mary Jane Sinclair, I; Ethel Richards, 2 ; Isa Wright, 3.
