The initials and finals read down give two of the New Zealand Shipping Company's steamers. 4195. Charade.—By Unohoo, Naseby: — My first is in king, but not in queen; My second is hi pink, but not in green. My third is in marquis, not in earl; My fourth is in boy, but not in girl. My fifth is in ice, but not in snow; My sixth is in rake, but not hi hoe. My seventh is in poplar, but not in vine; My eighth is in yours, but not in mine. My whole is to where many people are bound And gold is there in abundance found. 4196. Double Acrostic: — A New Zealand bird; a musical play; a means of access to a suite of rooms;-a recently discovered planet; an allegorical Biblical personage. Primals and finals name two brothers who played a prominent part in Biblical history. 4197. Charades: — (1) My first and next, by steadfast laws, Is never seen without a cause. My whole's a work that is well done, By one who has the work begun. , (2) My first is always known as bas, 'Tis in my next, you naughty lad; My third is found in bygone age, My whole is little used by sage. (3) My first's affected and precise; My n«|t a flower both sweet and nice; My whole a foolish league will show That's very much in yogae just now, And if its end should not soon come, A lovely flower will cease to bloom.
