Bird v. Burn. — The match between these two veteran English players has resulted in a tie. The number of games won was originally fixed at seven, then each player had scored six games during the contest, and the number was increased to ten. During the play each contestant had won nine games, so it was agreed to declare the match drawn. Chess at Turin. — The Chess Circle at Turin, Italy, permits the wives and daughters of members to frequent the club rooms and to participate in their tournaments.
